Hello! I’m Kerra, and I’m excited to share a bit about myself and my family. I’m a farmer’s wife and proud mother to three beautiful children. We are dedicated farmers thriving in the picturesque Southwest. My husband, Ryan, is a fifth-generation farmer from Hatch, NM, where he specializes in Green Chile! Our year-round farming focuses on a variety of row crops, including onions, lettuce, jalapeños, cotton, silage, milo, alfalfa, pecan trees, and red Angus. We truly love what we do! Having been married for 14 years, we’ve always been known as R & K Farms, but that didn’t resonate with my new chapter. Inspired by the Bible verse Matthew 5:13-14—"You are the salt of the earth. You are the light of the world"—I chose the name Salt & Light. Golden Retrievers, in many ways, embody this verse for me. Their stunning coat colors, ranging from cream to gold, honey, and red, evoke feelings of salt and light. More importantly, dogs represent that very essence. They bring flavor, sass, love, forgiveness, and loyalty to our lives, illuminating our world even during dark times. As dog lovers, we can all agree that coming home after a long day to our furry companions fills us with unparalleled joy. Whether they come from a reputable breeder or a shelter, every dog holds a special place in God’s heart. After all, "dog" spelled backward is "God." Although their time with us is brief, they teach us countless life lessons.
With that sentiment, I’ve embarked on a new adventure beyond farming. I’m pursuing a passionate dream that I've always envisioned, guided by my faith and trusting in God’s perfect timing to bless me and my family.
Koda joined our family on November 13, 2021, born on October 3, 2021. Owning a purebred Golden Retriever has always been a dream of mine. As he grew, Koda blossomed into a loving, protective, and intelligent companion—everything I had hoped for. He’s calm and intuitive, never destructive.
Three years later, our family expanded when I brought home Kita from Show Low, Arizona. She is the embodiment of the calm, composed demeanor typical of golden retrievers, and I aspire to start my breeding business with her as the foundation.
